The Military Child Dandelion
I read somewhere that the official flower of the military brat is the dandelion. Why a dandelion? The plant puts down roots almost anywhere, and it's almost impossible to destroy. The dandelion is an unpretentious plant, yet good looking (except for the habit of being where you least expect it.) It's a survivor in a broad range of climates.
Experts say that military children are well-rounded, culturally aware, tolerant, and extremely resilient. But, that doesn’t happen by accident. Behind every military child are military parents working hard to enhance the lifestyle that is handed to our military brats — even before they can appreciate it.

"Beautifully Broken" Crosses. Each one comes with this message: "After I trained with two glass artisans one of my biggest
takeaways as a new artist was the desire to find my own "voice" in my
work once my training was done (I’ve learned since it’s never really done). Because
glass can be fickle, I was sitting in my workshop
one day lamenting all the pendants I had fired that didn't match my vision, for
one reason or another. I felt I'd wasted God's resources and was really
frustrated about my shortcomings as an artist. While this was still on my mind,
I heard "Beautifully Broken" by LeadHer worship leader, Lori
Mosteller. It was then that God spoke into my heart, "I had to break you
to make you" and He gave me the vision to repurpose my
"mistakes" into something NEW. Our Creator doesn't toss us aside or
throw us away because we don't meet His vision for us. He takes who we are,
WHERE WE ARE and breaks us through intervention, circumstance, trials,
heartache, redirection, removal...whatever it takes. And he takes us in our
brokenness, moves the pieces around and creates something NEW through his son,
Jesus Christ. Beloved, know that our God SEES your potential, your value and
your BEAUTY...even when you don't. In your brokenness, it may feel your life is
being thrown away but in God's hands, He will make you whole again and if you
let Him, you will be MORE than you ever thought you could be. May you know
God's blessing today and everyday. You are Holy and DEARLY LOVED."

"FLC" Cuff
I woke up at 2:30 this morning with these 3 words playing in my head over and over....FAITH, LOVE COURAGE...FAITH, LOVE, COURAGE...FAITH, LOVE, COURAGE. As a jewelry maker and as someone who is inspired by words, I have to FEEL words in my hands before I can let them go. I got up to go into my workshop which, minutes later, tripped out my dog and woke up my husband. I explained that I woke up with "Faith, Love, Courage" on my mind and had to make something (this no longer surprises him) and he said, "Oh! FLC"...and went back to bed. As I wondered how to FEEL "FLC", I felt God encouraging me to burn it, or brand it, into leather. This isn't something I typically do but He ministers to me through my work and this was no exception. Beloved, sometimes we feel like the world applies heat to our lives that tests our endurance, through a deployment, sickness, a death, the loss of a job, heartbreak...the list goes on. It will test our FAITH...but this is the opportunity to make it ACTIVE. Through it all, LOVE...give it, receive it and know God's love is unconditional, with no end. It takes COURAGE...but you WILL come out stronger. As I face my own "furnace time", I ask God to scar me JUST ENOUGH...to make it count. At the end of the day, I want to know that my faith was tested and held firm, I want love to be the bottom line, and I'm more brave than I thought I could be. Faith...Love...Courage.

For Jen
This was made for my precious friend, Jen, who is being a totally awesome warrior with MS. This is the Bible verse that God gave her to encourage her during this time. I wouldn't normally stamp out the verse on the cuff but for her, gotta be done!
For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help.
- Isaiah 41:13
